After debuting last November 2016, Victon is back and ready to capture more hearts with their second mini-album, Ready. Victon is known for their colorful and fun themes in their previous album but this time, we witness them in a stronger and more masculine concept in both their visual and music. Get ready to experience a whole new side of Victon.
Track 1 – Eyez Eyez
Eyez Eyez starts off powerfully with distorted synths that are dominant throughout the track and is then joined by the pounding beat which I really enjoy. Though I think that the chorus should have had a change in the beat rhythmic, it’s nice to see the boys experimenting with a new edgier concept.
Track 2 – In The Air
In The Air is a trap tune with a fun play on it’s synths and pounding beats. The intense rap parts were the highlight in this track though I do miss the vocals. Other than that, I’d just jam and bounce along to this song whenever I will hear it.
Track 3 – 얼타 (The Other)
The Other is the type of track you’d usually hear from Victon: light, fun, and refreshing. Adding some chimes to the synths helps them work well with the cheerful jumpy beats and creates a fresh sensation like drinking cold water on a hot summer day. Placing The Other after a punchy powerful track is also a good decision to help break up the flow of the album.
Track 4 – 이 나쁜.. (This is Bad)
The synths in The Other can be heard again in This is Bad but only lighter and partnered with a different beat tempo. It had the same buoyant feeling as The Other so it didn’t excite me while listening to it. The high notes in this track are awesome, but the song lacks originality.
Track 5 – Sunrise
Ready ends calmly with Sunrise, a retro acoustic number. The guitar strumming in the verse felt relaxing as the boys sung emotionally. It sounds a bit old-school like something you’d hear in the early 2000’s, but adding a song like Sunrise in this contemporary pop filled album makes things refreshing again.
