Up10tion – ‘Summer Go’ Album Review

Up10tion is back with their fourth mini-album, Summer Go, released in August to celebrate the summertime. These six tracks are summer party anthems that showcase this youthful group’s many talents.

Track 1 – 오늘이 딱이야 (夜半逃走) (Tonight)

With an attention grabbing opening, Tonight is a fun retro pop song. This is the title track of Summer Go with a chilled out, party like atmosphere. The exciting and persistent brass keeps the party going in this uplifting track. The vocal performance is very impressive as well.

Track 2 – 예뻐 (Beautiful)

Deep-voiced rapping kicks off this smooth mid-tempo track, which includes delicate vocals and piano. Although this track is slower, the rappers are a bigger focus than the previous track.

Track 3 – 오아시스 (Oasis)

Picking the tempo back up, Oasis is a laid back party track. This urban influenced track would be perfect music for a pool party. The balance between the backtrack, the vocalists, and rappers were great which makes it an easy listen.

Track 4 – MAGIC

MAGIC has a jazz feel to it with solid pop melodies. This song expresses the heart when falling in love at first sight. The differences in tones from the rapping and vocals are very pleasant and adds interest to this upbeat track. This is one of the most memorable songs on the mini album because it’s simple and fresh.

Track 5 – 행운이 되어줘 (Be My Luck)

Be My Luck is the most unique track on Summer Go thanks to the funky guitar and bass. The bridge and verses are distinct, but the track becomes a typical pop song in the chorus. The effortless vocals partner really well with the instrumental.

Track 6 – 오늘이 딱이야 (夜半逃走) (Tonight) (Inst.)
