Sistar – ‘Insane Love’ Album Review

Barely eight months after releasing their third mini-album, the sexy Kpop divas of Sistar are back with their fourth mini-album, Insane Love. Sistar is known for their mature, seductive image and chart topping catchy tracks. And Insane Love is no exception. This seven track album is mostly filled with love songs made up of great instrumentals, beautiful vocals and rhythmic rap. However, the one problem I had listening to this album is that most of the songs sounded too generic and I struggled to listen to some songs from beginning to end.

Track 1 – I Like Thatfeel4

The opening track I Like That is an upbeat pop number that talks about a cheating lover. The girls sing about liking his professions of love the best out of everything he ever said to them. For me, what makes this song good, other than its fast tempo and memorable melodies, is how relatable its lyrics are. This track is a pretty good opening for this album and I like that.

Track 2 – 끈 (Strings)feel4

Strings is another fast tracked pop number with infusions of funk and horns. Although it’s not as powerful as the first track, it does a good job of getting you to move along within moments. In Strings, the girls encourage a love interest to come on to them.

Track 3 – 해볼래 (Wanna Do It)feel3

Wanna Do It is a sweet laid-back track that easily make you bop your head along because of its swaying rhythm and beat combination. However, other than that, the melody itself is not very memorable and needs several listens to grow on you. Wanna Do It talks about wanting to try things together as a couple.

Track 4 – Yeah Yeahfeel3

Yeah Yeah is another uptempo song with infusions of brass sounds. It has a catchy hook and gets you dancing in no time. In this song, the girls sing about having deep feelings for someone, and tell the object of their affections to call them so they’ll say “yeah yeah”. Although, this is a good song, the repetition of “yeah yeah” becomes tiring after a while.

Track 5 – Say I Love Youfeel4

This is perhaps the most slow tempo song on the album. Say I Love You is an R&B track with a catchy chorus that sticks after the first listening. In this song, the girls try to convince a love interest to open up and accept their love.

Track 6 – 이불 덮고 들어 (Under the Blanket)feel3

Insane Love‘s closing track is a laid-back R&B swing number that immediately catches your attention. Again, like in the case of the third track, the instrumentals were more gripping than the vocals in Under the Blanket.

Track 7 – I Like That (Inst.)
