A year since their successful debut, Oh My Girl is here again screaming girl power. The girls are ready to shower the fans with more love through their third mini-album, Pink Ocean. This mini-album allows Oh My Girl to show a new concept while keeping their girlish charms. Collaborating with their senior labelmate, B1A4‘s leader Jinyoung, Pink Ocean has a double title track and presents a range of listenable fusion pop tunes.

Track 1 – Liar Liarfeel4

Pink Ocean kicks off with its first title track, Liar Liar. Interestingly, sirens can be heard throughout the song. I think it’s like a warning signal to the girls that the guy they like is lying to them. Next to the siren is a bouncy hip hop drum beat like the kind you’d hear from pop songs with lyrics related to female empowerment. Upon first listen, I thought the song was on the cute side, but as I listened again, Liar Liar definitely has swag. The playful beat turns into a commanding one as the rap part enters. I like this song a lot because of the fun melody and the cool beat.

Track 2 – B612feel3

Next is a uptempo track, with a bouncy beat, a soothing acoustic guitar, and smooth synth washes. B612 is a relaxing track thanks to Oh My Girl’s sweet vocals. However, B612 didn’t really impress me that much because the song lacks a catchy melody.

Track 3 – I Found Lovefeel4

I Found Love is a fun and free-spirited R&B pop track. Alongside the playfulness of the piano is the spunky beat that you can clap to. This song gave me the feeling of happiness that one would experience when they’re in love. Oh My Girl’s emotional vocals really help convey the sweet feelings attached to the song.

Track 4 – Knock Knockfeel3

Knock Knock is a mid-tempo number with a funky beat and cool synths that makes it sound like a retro song you’d hear at a lounge or a coffee shop. The vocals and rapping work really well with the backtrack. This is definitely a feel good song, but it didn’t open the door to my heart as it’s a typical melody you’d hear from other girl groups.

Track 5 -한 발짝 두 발짝 (One Step, Two Steps)feel4

The dreamy, fairytale-like second title track One Step, Two Steps is written by B1A4’s Jinyoung. This rock rhythm based track starts with the voices of Oh My Girl perfectly synchronized with each other. The opening made me feel like I was listening to a harmonious choir. A bright song with a bit of Oh My Girl’s falsetto and a fantasy vibe, One Step, Two Steps is a joy to listen to because of the fresh, cheerful, and soothing vocals.

I don’t know how no songs can have the top smiley face. Liar Liar and One Step Two Step should’ve at least had that… They were both amazing.
