Ladies’ Code continues with their release of mysterious, mature, and polished songs with the release of the (sadly short and much underrated) EP Strang3r. Strang3r is, like its predecessor, Myst3ry, a collection of ballad- and R&B-inspired numbers that have alluring backtracks, and truly accentuates the sentimental vocals of the girls.
Track 1 – Lorelei
The Lorelei is a creature similar to a siren or mermaid which is rumored to bring sailors to their death by luring them near cliffs with her melodious singing voice. Similarly, Lorelei is a song that will serenade you with Ladies Codes’ ethereal vocals which are out of this world, and the simple yet resounding melody. The sparse beat of this track, in fact, allows their singing to take the full spotlight. This is definitely not a typical song.
Track 2 – The Rain
The Rain is a sophisticated, R&B-influenced number that truly shows how Ladies Codes’ voices can sound emotional, yet emotionless at the same time. Although their voices sound a bit out of place sometimes, the posh melody and their silky-smooth vocals are things you will probably never get bored of.
Track 3 – Jane Doe
Jane Doe, like Lorelei, has an austere beat, allowing the girls’ vocals to shine. The sparseness of the verses is a stark contrast with the busyness of the chorus, an ode to the ups and downs of life. This delicate number is one that will stick in my head for a while.
