The boys of High4 recently released their second mini-album, Blessed. Blessed is special to the members as they participated in the lyrical creation and composition of each track. This mini-album samples many genres including R&B, hip hop, and pop. High4 wants their fans, and music listeners, to feel ‘blessed’ while listening to these tracks.
Track 1 – Live, Love, Life (Intro)
Live, Love, Life features a harmonious piano melody. The piano gives the track a feeling of hope as a member speaks in English about new beginnings. However, in just 30 seconds, there isn’t enough substance to grant a higher rating.
Track 2 – Love Line
The title track, Love Line, carries over the piano melody from the intro. This is a pop dance track that has funky elements from peppy guitar chords to bouncy piano notes. The members display their light and sweet vocals in this cheerful track.
Track 3 – Ooh Girl
Ooh Girl features members Sunggu and Myunghan. This is a contemporary R&B track with a nice groove and hip hop rhythm. Ooh Girl picks up in intensity as things speed up during the chorus. This duet shows solid vocals over an addictive beat.
Track 4 – 기도해 (Pray)
The next track opens up with the twinkling of piano keys. Pray is an R&B-inspired ballad, but the drum beat adds a touch of hip hop flavor as well. The vocals are especially impressive in this track where they balance out the edgy raps.
Track 5 – 네가 없을 뿐인데 (Last Summer)
With a pumping beat, Last Summer is a bright edition to this mini-album. The song has both rock and house elements that match well with the vocal and rapping performances. However, the track falls short on the originality factor, as it’s very similar to other idol group songs.
Track 6 – Love Line (Inst.)
