Everyone knows Eunji for her sweet tribute to her wonderful father, Hopefully Sky. Her unique and mature vocals allowed her to tackle the song perfectly, and it was able to reach the top of the charts. Now, with high hopes of remaining successful, she released a subsequent album titled The Space. The Space, as its name suggests, gives listeners the feeling of a large and airy space to ponder and wonder. Take a breather from the ups and downs of life with this traditional, ethereal album.
Track 1 – 너란 봄 (The Spring)
The Spring is a sweet song impossible not to appreciate. One will be reminded of a lovely walk in the park, with brightly-colored flowers in the backdrop, as one feels at peace listening to this calming, heavenly folk track. This sounds quite similar to Hopefully Sky, but this is Eunji’s niche in music, so this somehow sounds refreshing and new.
Track 2 – 처음 느껴본 이별 (First Farewell)
First Farewell may be pleasant, but it’s almost alike to The Spring. In fact, they are so similar that they sound like they are parts of the same song. If this was the only one on the album, I would find it more distinctive and attractive, but The Spring is just a bit better.
Track 3 – 소녀의 소년 (First Love)
First Love knocks on the door of your heart with a heartwarming rock ballad. The juxtaposition of strong drum beats, rhythmic guitar strums, light piano chords, and Eunji’s delicate yet emotional voice truly makes this song stand out in terms of both style and emotion. You can’t help but move your head to the uplifting and posh melody.
Track 4 – 서울의 달 (Full Moon)
Causing a wave of sentimentality to sweep through the listener is a downtempo song abuzz with mournful instruments. Through her evocative vocal delivery which is aided by the traditional melody, Eunji laments about feeling lonely and poignant late into the night, waiting for that special someone — something we can all relate to.
Track 5 – 너란 봄 (The Spring) (Piano ver.)
This alternative version of The Spring has more of a heavenly and fragile atmosphere about it. This is more ballad-like than its counterpart, so this might be a preference for people who favor soft tracks. This is an unassumingly beautiful track.
