Day6 – ‘Every Day6 February’ Album Review

As part of their monthly releases, Day6 is back with another two rock inspired singles in their Every Day6 February edition. The boys vocal execution is as solid as ever, but the singles this month lacked the creative ingenious seen in last month’s releases.

Track 1 – 예뻤어 (You Were Beautiful)

You Were Beautiful begins with somber low-pitched base guitar strumming coupled with haunting piano chords soon joined by sorrowful vocals. The songs amps up in intensity during the chorus as the boys turn into full-on belting mode. While a fine track, You Were Beautiful is a fairly standard soft rock ballad that lacks a bit of originality.

Track 2 – My Day

My Day makes a slightly different intro. It starts with radio-like muffled lo-fi vocals, and quickly layers on bouncing drum beats to transform into a rock pop tune. There is an interesting push and pull dynamic between the soft and melodic vocals versus the strong backbeats and rhythmic chants during the bridge. But just like You Were Beautiful, My Day unfortunately sounds like a song you’ve heard a hundred times already from different rock bands.
