As far as I can remember, Beast has been a talented group that always brings extremely addictive and memorable songs since their debut. Sure enough, their eighth mini-album Ordinary is far from just ordinary. The album is an earful of captivating songs that manifest Beast’s grown-up romantic charms and energetic flairs.

Track 1 – 예이 (YeY)feel5

YeY is a strong EDM dance pop song with an identifiable hook. But more than just a party song with pounding beats, YeY also has powerful vocals and tough raps during the verse and bridge that make it even more dynamic sounding. This is the true brilliance of Beast, giving depth to a song that may seem to be simple on the surface.

Track 2 – 일하러가야돼 (Gotta Go To Work)feel5

A mid-tempo pop song, Gotta Go To Work‘s understated sweetness is brought to life through Beast’s smooth voices and the crisp electronic piano melody. The most interesting thing about Gotta Go To Work is its realistic yet humorous lyrics describing the dilemma of men who loves to go to work but has to leave their girlfriends behind.

Track 3 – 스위트룸 (Sweet Room)feel4

Beast’s tender vocals shines through Sweet Room, a bluesy track with hip hop rhythm and dreamy guitar melody. The addition of brass instruments during the chorus gives this romantic number an unexpected twist.

Track 4 –  그곳에서 (See You There)feel5

See You There is a pop R&B song with a super catchy melody and a unique synth sound that weaves through the entire song. It starts softer during the verses but quickly amps up the intensity with snare drums and belting vocals during the chorus for a full release of emotions.

Track 5 – 가져가 (Take It All)feel3

Take It All opens with a funky acoustic piano tune but quickly adds on weighty drum beats to make it feel a bit more upbeat. Next up are synthetic keyboard chords that accompany the chorus followed by rhythmic rap sections and even electric guitar during the bridge. This track is obviously multi-dimensional, but the overall melody feels a bit flat and lacks a spotlight.

Track 6 – Oh Honeyfeel4

Ordinary wraps up with another sweet pop song with nothing but clean acoustic guitar sounds and percussion beats that allow Beasts’ voices to be the main focus. Oh Honey‘s groovy melody is perfectly paired with the boys’ sleek vocals to create one swoon-worthy tune.
