I spent May 20-22 in Toronto, Canada at the Toronto Kpop Con 2016, otherwise known as TKC16. The event was organized by Pop Goes the World and was full of Hallyu goodness. The convention had everything from panels, to games, to YouTuber meet and greets, a showcase for dance crews, vendors, and of course Kpop performances by some of our favorite idol groups. The performers included VIXX, GFriend, Day6, and GOT7 (who were the headliners performing on Saturday and Sunday night). Couldn’t make it in person? Relive the Toronto Kpop Con performances with us below.
First up is the ever dark and mysterious idol boys of VIXX!
VIXX
The convention started off with a fanmeet by VIXX on Friday night, May 20th. The boys performed several songs, had several outfit changes, and answered questions during a Q&A.
VIXX opened their fanmeet with a performance of Chained Up. They also performed many crowd favorites including Say You, Say Me, Body, Error, Shocker, and On and On. A lot of the questions from the Q&A’s were music related, like Ravi being asked what his inspiration was when writing music; his answer being ‘everything’ including fans and movies. There was a lucky fan that received a happy birthday song from the boys thanks to Hyuk. It wouldn’t be a performance in Toronto without a sample of a Drake track; the boys jokingly sang and danced to Hotline Bling, as well.
VIXX ended with a bang with their encore having more of a party feel. Their fanmeet was hot, but the crowd, their fans, were hotter!
If you could have a weekend with these idols at Toronto Kpop Con, which groups would you pick? Tell us in the comments below!
