Following up on Part 1, let’s take a look at 8 more of the most memorable boy group choreographies, including vets and rookies alike.
SHINee – 1 of 1
1 of 1 may not have been the flashiest choreography in 2016, but it is definitely one of the most notable, and original, due to its concept. SHINee took us back to the 80s/90s era with a retro song that has dance steps that fit the style nicely. The motions are uncomplicated but really hit each beat of the song. 1 of 1‘s choreography does a great job showcasing the boys’ dance skills.
Monsta X – All In
The choreography in All In marries hard hitting and sensual movements, something Monsta X is good at. The choreography is cleanly executed and has hints of trendy dances. The key point of All In is the sexy back roll that happens during the chorus. The synchronization in the choreography shows how well the group works together.
BTS – Save Me
BTS always has such unique concepts, and Save Me is one of those standout concepts. The choreography in Save Me commands your attention with steps that exude emotion and appear effortless. With fast footwork intertwined with more chilled freestyle motions, this choreography is one of the most visually appealing of 2016.
Pentagon – Can You Feel It
Pentagon, a rookie group from 2016, made the list thanks to their choreography in Can You Feel It. The moves in this track are funky yet precise, and blend fad dances in nicely. There are impressive formations to give individual members their time to shine. There’s an unexpected tutting section as well which is hard for groups to master in sync, but Pentagon does it without fail.
U-KISS – Stalker
Stalker is full of mystery and finesse. U-KISS proves that they’re a great group of dancers with many unforgettable moments. There are glimpses of seductive moves mixed in with the hard hitting steps. The key points of Stalker are the multiple hand gestures made to signify someone watching someone else. But the most notable thing in the choreography is the great use of the entire stage.
KNK – Knock
Another rookie group makes the list for their memorable choreography in their debut song. The choreography in Knock is fresh and unique. Knock starts off as a ballad with very flowy yet statue-esque movements. There are many unusual body positions that require a good balance to pull off. The routine also has great transitions from one formation to the next to keep the audience captivated.
Infinite – The Eye
The kings of being in sync with crisp and coordinated moves could not be left off the list. The choreography for The Eye is a different style from typical Infinite — this is a much smoother routine. Although the steps are fairly simple, the simplicity of the choreography is fascinating and performed flawlessly. However, the routine is kicked up a notch with two distinct dance breaks that show off the hard hitting Infinite we’re used to.
NCT Dream – Chewing Gum
Arguably the most difficult choreography on this list, Chewing Gum couldn’t be left out. Many people struggle to even balance on a hover board, but here these seven kids are dancing in sync. The hover boards are utilized in Chewing Gum to make line changes and to add to the difficulty. One can only imagine the amount of practice that went into perfecting this choreography.
