The dazzling world of Kdrama is filled with a large number of extremely talented actors in various areas of expertise. We’ve seen great on-screen chemistries and fallen in love with some unlikely couple pairings to date. But there are still some couple pairings that would undoubtedly turn heads and create new sparks. Without further ado, here are some of the couple pairings we think will make the next best Kdrama awesome.
Kim Soo Hyun + Hwang Jung Eum
Kim Soo Hyun often plays more reserved roles. Hwang Jung Eum is the queen of boisterous characters. Both actors are immensely talented and have been repeatedly commended for how much they immerse themselves into the characters they play. I think it will be a fun ride to see these two’s polar extreme styles in a drama together. Be it a zany rom-com, or a heart-wrenching, tears-inducing melodrama, we know it’ll be one hell of a convincing performance.
Park Bo Gum + IU
Although Park Bo Gum is a relatively newcomer compared to IU, he is a natural and carries serious weight when it comes to acting. Park Bo Gum is especially good at portraying personas with a wide emotional range, which will be a perfect balance for IU’s often relatable, girl next door characters. It would be an extremely riveting show if these two were put together in a cheerful rom-com, or a youthful school drama.
Ji Sung + Ha Ji Won
It’s undeniable that these two are each veterans in their own right. They both have proven time and time again their ability to portray a wide range of characters with some stylish skill. Be it multiple personalities, or tough stuntwoman to a haughty queen, they bring us absolutely convincing performances each time. We think it would be an extremely thrilling experience to watch this pair work together in an action thriller drama.
Song Joong Ki + Park Shin Hye
These two are already mega popular Hallyu actors on their own, let alone imagine the combined star power of putting them together. But interestingly, both actors are at a turning point in their career where they’re transforming from an early day image to something more sophisticated — flower boy to manly man and cutesy girl next door to sassy career woman. It’s exciting to think about the possibilities these two can explore in a number of unexpected directions.
Ryu Jun Yeol + Shin Min Ah
If this pairing were to happen indeed, it would be one of the most unlikely pairings yet. Although a new comer, Ryu Jun Yeol has proven to be a strong contender with his ability to effortlessly enter into a role and give it the best rendering possible. Shin Min Ah is known for playing strong willed, sassy, and lovable heroines. A combination of her coyness and his awkwardness in any genre would sure generate a mix of entertaining and addictive scenes.
Kim Woo Bin + Han Groo
These two actors are known for their abilities to play strong, independent characters in every project they feature in. It’s always a treat to see a pairing that is mutually strong and self-sufficient as individuals and as a couple. Pairings like this usually create fun moments for viewers as a result of the power tussles that will surely ensue. To this end, it’s expected that these two will make the best reluctantly fallen in love pairing if they’re put together.
Yoon Shi Yoon + Uee
Be it a heart-wrenching, melodramatic hero, or a goofy teenage neighbor, Yoon Shi Yoon always delivers. Likewise, Uee has proved with her recent projects that she’s matured as an actress and can portray characters with much depth in a natural way. We think that these two teaming up could bring us unique chemistry and emotional range in a melodrama or rom-com and draw in viewers from the very first scene.
Lee Jong Suk + Song Hye Kyo
Lee Jong Suk is an expert in creating amazing chemistry with whomever his romantic interest is, be it a same aged girl, a mature woman, or even a man. Song Hye Kyo possesses the exact same ability as shown by rumored real world relationships with nearly every single one of her drama co-stars. There’s no doubt that these two will be able to create yet another explosive noona romance to die for.
Jang Geun Suk + Gong Hyo Jin
Bringing these two together would be an extremely entertaining process, mainly because of how different the characters they play tend to be. While Jang Geun Suk plays strong and haughty male characters, Gong Hyo Jin is best known for her weird and eccentric roles. There is no doubt that bringing these two polar opposites together will yield comedy gold and some totally unexpected romantic sparks.
