One of the things that make a Kdrama entertaining and enticing to watch is the bromance. They have brought us laughter and tears. They teach us about loyalty and the importance of friendship. This is why we decided to make our very own list dedicated to highlighting some of the best bromance relationships in Kdramas.
Warning: minor spoilers below.
Jung Jae Min & Han Shi Hoo
With a friendship that survived through time, death, and even betrayal, these two definitely deserve mention on this list. As enemies and as friends, these two have a strong bond and pull to each other that is extremely heartwarming and riveting to watch at the same time. It was a relief for me to see them finally become friends in the present just as in the past.
Yoon Yoon Jae & Kang Jun Hee
Reply 1997
This is a pairing that was particularly bittersweet for me to watch because it involved a one-sided love of sorts. However, I love the fact that instead of cringyness and awkwardness born of unrequited love, we got to see a friendship that was almost brotherly in its entirety. Romantic feelings aside, these two made such a great pairing that viewers started to ship them together at a point.
Kwon Ji Hyuk & Joo Byung Hee
Shut Up Flower Boy Band
This bromance was one of the most moving as it was so powerful that even death couldn’t change their friendship and love, rather it created a wider circle or friends who became brothers. While it was mostly heart-wrenching to watch Ji Hyuk deal with his grief sometimes, it was also inspiring to see how much his friendship with Byung Hee influenced his life even in his absence.
Park Do Kyung & Lee Jin Sung
This bromance has everything: love, friendship, brotherhood, and history. Watching these two together is so much fun, as the viewer can easily see the connection between these two men. Their interaction is so flawless that it’s easy to conclude that they’re really close friends in real life too. The drama couldn’t have ended any better, with both of them as in-laws.
Baek Seung Chan & Ra Joon Mo
Although an unlikely pairing, the hyung-dongsaeng relationship between these two is extremely refreshing to watch. It’s even more fun because of Seung Chan’s mischievous antics every now and then. Their relationship has the familiar feel of sibling competition at certain points and I found myself connecting with Seung Chan and his pranks occasionally.
Kim Tan & Choi Young Do
Heirs
Sometimes, the best bromances come from enemies who become friends. That’s the case with these two as they navigate the throes of teenagehood with all the angst they can muster. Their bromance is undoubtedly one of the most gripping in Kdrama history.
Kim Young Ho, Jang Joon Sung, & Kim Ji Woong
These three balance each other out and make a great team of fitness trainers. Ji Woong’s hyperactive, loud, and overly friendly personality is the perfect countermeasure to Yong Ho’s prickly character and Joon Sung’s more reserved nature. They are like the three musketeers, always together, always supportive of each other, for better or for worse.
Sun Restaurant Staff
Last but not least, this particular bromance involved more than two people — it was all of the Sun Restaurant staff members, except for of course Na Bo Sung. It’s like Coffee Prince all over again, with a group of different men coming together to create fun moments and great food while making viewers laugh all the way.
