One of the most underrated Kpop groups ever, Melody Day really proves their worth and talent with Kiss On the Lips. It’s an enjoyable EP with tracks to fit your every mood, ranging from steamy reggae tracks to their trademark (but always surprising) ballads. If you like groups that are able to tackle a wide variety of concepts, then Kiss On the Lips is the album for you.
Track 1 – Kiss On the Lips
Kiss On The Lips truly shows Melody Day’s full colors as it takes a sharp turn from the group’s previous singles — melancholic ballads or cutesy pop tunes. It’s a sultry and retro party track with a hot tropical party vibe thanks to the use of reggae elements. While the song is definitely not subtle in its meaning, we welcome and appreciate the girls’ unexpected change.
Track 2 – Mix And Match
Mix And Match is a stylish and uplifting pop number with powerful guitar strums at just the right places. Melody Day’s energy here is truly infectious, as they show their resolve to getting over a breakup.
Track 3 – 흔한 멜로디 (Common Melody)
While the previous two tracks showed the girls’ energy and zest, this one reveals a more emotional side. Common Melody is a soothing ballad that allows their angelic voices to shine their brightest. It’s a dreamy and ethereal tune that would stick in your head for a long time. I particularly like that the melody is not too busy, allowing Melody Day to display their raw emotions.
Track 4 – Like U
Like U really takes a step back from the stylishness of the previous songs, being a jumble of various sounds from various eras. With the clash of their vocals and the disorganized melody, I am unsure of what this song is aiming for.
Track 5 – Gift
Similar to Common Melody, Gift is a pleasant and slow track that allows Melody Day to flaunt their phenomenal singing. However, Gift is more loud and classy than its counterpart. Take a breather from life with this traditional ballad.
Track 6 – You Seem Busy (바빠 보여요)
Finally, You Seem Busy is a heartwarming romantic ditty with a congruous beat that suits the girls’ personalities. You Seem Busy has the feeling of a romantic evening in Paris, a song to be listening to with your lover.
