The two releases of Every Day6 April album as part of Day6’s monthly project continue the general trend of including a head-turning number coupled with a safe zone play. The title song I’m Serious has a completely unexpected catchy summery vibe, while Say Wow is your textbook rock band song. But in any case, Every Day6 April is an album that leaves you with more surprises than disappointments.
Track 1 – 장난 아닌데 (I’m Serious)
Unlike the title suggests, I’m Serious is a rather lighthearted and charismatic alternative soft pop rock number full of playfulness and nonchalant spirits. As if telling a story of youth’s innocence, Day6’s cheerful and laid-back vocals feel rather refreshing from the usual intensity of their heavy rock belting songs. I’m Serious makes for a great road trip head-bopping tune.
Track 2 – Say Wow
Dramatic piano chords, symphonic violin, and a bit of a cappella styled vocal harmony open Say Wow in a musical sounding spirit. The concoction is soon joined by giddy electric guitar riffs and pounding drum beats during the chant-like chorus to amp up the energy. While this song is full of youth and a sense of optimism, it’s a rather safe play for Day6 and doesn’t bring anything new to the table.
