The last of a three part series, we are spotlighting 10 more amazingly talented idol rappers. Idol rappers are a key component to any idol group. These rappers are the real deal and have the skills to prove just that. Continuing from part 1 and part 2, here are the last 10 kick-ass idol rappers that deserve recognition.
G-Dragon
G-Dragon, leader of mega group BIGBANG, is one of the best in the industry and an icon, this list wouldn’t be complete without him. G-Dragon has an unique tone and is skilled in mixing up his flow. He is able to transition between different styles and genres effortlessly. G-Dragon’s skill comes from starting his career in the entertainment industry at a young age.
Jang Dong Woo
Jang Dong Woo is an idol rapper that flies under the radar. Dong Woo has a charming style and unique flow that fits well in Infinite. Forming Infinite H with Hoya, Dong Woo hoped that they would be seen as more than idol rappers. Through writing lyrics for the subunit, Dong Woo has gained respect from well-known Korean hip hop artists like Dynamic Dup, Zion T, and Bumkey.
Son Chae Young
Son Chae Young is the main rapper of up-and-coming power girl group, Twice. During Sixteen, the survival show that produced Twice, Chae Young was constantly praised for her rap skills by Park Jin Young. She is known for writing her own lyrics which puts her a step above many other idol rappers. Her young age also means she has much of a promising future ahead of her.
Zelo
B.A.P’s youngest member definitely has talent flowing through his veins. Zelo is not only a strong rapper, but also an amazing dancer. Zelo has one of the fastest rap flows in the world of Kpop. With a rapid fire flow and an unmistakable voice, Zelo is certainly an idol rapper not to go unnoticed.
Park Kyung
Park Kyung started his rap career in the underground scene with fellow Block B member, Zico. Kyung has been partaking in rap events since he was in elementary school. He has proven that his skills can be transferred from a more rugged rap style to a softer style that fits idol groups. Check out his latest release with GFriends’ Eunha, Inferiority Complex.
Baro
B1A4’s rapper Baro is known for his uniquely deep and masculine voice that resembles Big Bang’s T.O.P a bit. However, Baro quickly established his own sound by adding just the right amount of ruggedness in his raps to complement the softer vocalists in B1A4 songs. As distinctive and memorable as Baro is, he fully deserves to be recognized.
Moonbyul
Making her presence known with her tone and style, Mamamoo’s Moonbyul is on the rise. She is not an idol rapper that was just put in the group because they needed a rapper. Moonbyul has mad talent and gives off a rapper vibe. She even has credits in songs for rap writing and we certainly hope to see more of her work in this area.
Yano
Yano is the youngest member and rapper of idol group, Topp Dogg. Yano has been a member of Topp Dogg since the group formed in 2013. Making an appearance on Show Me The Money 4, Yano set out to prove that he has the skills to be seen as a legitimate rapper. Yano further demonstrated what he’s made of through covers and his mixtape.
Jung Il Hoon
As one of the rappers of BtoB, Jung Il Hoon is known and well respected in the industry as a lyricist and producer. He’s frequently featured as the rapper in other idol’s work and composed many of BtoB’s songs. Watch one of Il Hoon’s most recent features in Hyuna’s Roll Deep where he helped turn up the swag with his fire-spitting, personality-infused rap.
Suga
I’d like to end this list with one of my personal favorite rappers, Suga. Suga is also a main rapper in BTS and got his start in the Korean underground hip hop world. He may not be as well known as Rap Monster, but his skills are surreal. With a very distinct, unique style and flow, Suga is at the top of the list of idol rappers.
