Babylon, the R&B artist that you may have heard on tracks by Zico, Dok2, and Beenzino, recently dropped S.S.F.W. Babylon uses his impressive vocal color to tell a love story based on the seasons — spring, summer, fall, and winter — hence S.S.F.W. If you are a fan of R&B vocalists and great story telling, this album and Bablyon are for you.
Track 1 – BORN & BURN (Intro)
S.S.F.W is kicked off with the intro, BORN & BURN, which represents spring and the blooming of love. BORN & BURN has a minimalistic soundscape that features an electronic piano, light drums, and very little vocals. This track doesn’t show off Babylon’s vocals, but it sets up the rest of the tracks quite nicely.
Track 2 – Ocean Drive (feat. San E)
Things begin to heat up as Babylon teams up with San E for the title track, Ocean Drive, which represents summer. This number has an old school hip hop vibe with a kick drum beat. The vocals and rapping have a somewhat lazy execution which matches well with the backtrack. Ocean Drive is the perfect track to listen to while driving along an ocean.
Track 3 – BABO (feat. nafla)
BABO is a previously released track, but it symbolizes fall in this story. With a gentle melody and soulful piano strokes, the love story begins to mature. Babylon’s vocals are on full display here. His R&B style mixed with nafla’s rapping makes for a solid hip hop track.
Track 4 – Cloud (feat. The Quiett & adan)
Winter is the last season to be depicted with Cloud. This is the most modern sounding track on S.S.F.W with a trap beat and an overall mainstream R&B sound. Adding the voices of The Quiett and adan, this song excels as the rapping blends agreeably with the vocals. The melody in Cloud is smooth and catchy as well making this a solid closer track.
