AOA (Ace of Angels) is an idol girl group that is known for creating unique adventurous sounds out of general music genres. In their fourth mini album, Good Luck, they remind listeners again why they are one of the top girl groups in Kpop land. The album is full of upbeat dance songs and playful lyrics — perfect tune for the summer. You can hear the fun in every song, even the break up ones.
Track 1 – 10 Seconds
The first track is a laid back pop number with slight infusions of funk. In 10 Seconds, the girls ask a love interest to come closer for just ten seconds since the interest between them is mutual. It’s an easy tune to relax to, but I find the constant repetition of “10 seconds” in the song a little cumbersome.
Track 2 – Good Luck
The title track, Good Luck, is a defiant girl power song that wishes men good luck in trying to get the girls’ attention. AOA tells guys to put in effort in the quest to win their hearts. It’s a catchy song with interesting lyrics, but I wish the repetition of “good luck” could have been reduced as it almost started to sound redundant.
Track 3 – Cherry Pop
Cherry Pop is the most upbeat song on the album, with high vocals, flirty lyrics and an awesome bass line. It compares the taste of a boy’s lips to cherry pop, and the girls sing about not being able to stop thinking about the taste of a cherry pop. It’s the ultimate summertime party song that gets you dancing in no time.
Track 4 – Crazy Boy
This is a dance song that talks about being tired of a relationship with a crazy boy and wanting out. My favorite thing about Crazy Boy is that it’s a fun break up song, as opposed to the usual trend of sad, solemn tunes for break up messages.
Track 5 – Still Falls The Rain
This track is perhaps the most serious song on this album, and a very nice conclusion to the album. Still Falls the Rain is also a break up song that talks about missing a former lover. It has a melody line in the chorus that immediately grabs your attention and sticks, and the girls’ joint vocals make the song even more pleasant to the ears. It’s a mellow track that anyone can understand.
