This post is by guest writer Jara Rowe.

Kpop wouldn’t be what it is if it weren’t for the intricate and stylish dance moves! Kpop choreography is unique because the moves are complex, technical, and often requires flawless synchronization and line changes. Yet they always have a few iconic moves that are memorable and easy for the fans to follow along with as well. But have you ever wondered who the masterminds and creators behind these addictive moves are? Wonder no more. Read on and get to know the renowned choreographers behind some of your favorite Kpop dances.

Ian Eastwood

Hottest Kpop Choreographers Ian Esatwood

First up, we have Ian Eastwood, a newcomer to Kpop choreography. But, he is no newcomer to the world of dance. Ian is known for his quirky and unique style and has worked with artists like Justin Bieber. He does a great job at visually presenting the lyrics through creative movements. Ian’s Kpop portfolio is quite impressive: he choreographed SHINee’s View, Taemin’s Danger and Ace from his solo debut, VIXX’s Chained Up, and Shannon’s Daybreak Rain.

Tony Testa

Hottest Kpop Choreographers Tony Testa

Tony Testa is a well-known dancer, choreographer, and creative director. Tony has worked with some of the biggest entertainers in the world like Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Jackson, and Janet Jackson, just to name a few. Tony’s choreography style has a hip hop feel with uncommon movements that are still pleasing to the eye. The wow factor comes from the crisp details in each movement. When it comes to Kpop, Tony has worked the most with SM artists. Tony is the creative mind behind EXO’s famous tree in Wolf. He also choreographed EXO’s Overdose, Super Junior’s Devil and Mamacita, TVXQ’s Something and Catch Me, and several for SHINee including Married to the Music and Dream Girl.

Nappytabs

Hottest Kpop Choreographers Nappytabs

Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo, better known as Nappytabs, are famous choreographers behind the hit television show, So You Think You Can Dance. Nappytabs are known for their hip hop choreography that keeps up with the times by including modern dance moves. This choreography duo has also worked with several SM artists including TVXQ, Girls’ Generation, and BoA. For most Kpop fans, their most widely recognized project would be the jaw-dropping routine of EXO’s Call Me Baby.

Keone Madrid

Hottest Kpop Choreographers Keone Madrid

Keone Madrid is known in the dance world for dancing and choreographing with his wife Mariel, and they were both recently featured in Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself music video. Keone’s choreography ranges from lyrical hip hop to hard hitting, mind-blowingly sharp moves. Keone got his feet wet in Kpop when he began working with YG artists. He choreographed Se7en’s Digital Bounce and Better Together. Keone has since moved on to lend his awesome choreography skills and dance versatility to other artists in Kpop. He is behind GOT7’s Just Right, B1A4’s Tried to Walk, and one of my favorites, BTS’s Dope.

Parris Goebel

Hottest Kpop Choreographers Parris Goebel

The creator of her own style known as Polyswagg, Parris Goebel is extremely unique. Polyswagg is described as “combining sassy woman fire with aggressive inner strength.” Parris has a style that is easily spotted in whatever she choreographs. All of her pieces are hot full of sass and swag. Her choreography is decorated with many different hip hop styles sprinkled with a hint of humor. Attitude is key when dancing to one of her routines. Parris has recently gained attention from Justin Bieber’s Sorry video where she can be found dancing with her crew. Parris works with mostly YG artists and choreographed Taeyang’s Ringa Linga and CL’s Hello Bitches.

how can you not include Rino Nakasone, who did a big bulk of Shinee and SNSD’s choreography as well as work for TVXQ, f(x) and Super Junior? Sure, it may be a bit old, but considering how iconic dances like Genie, NU ABO, and Lucifer were and still are, it really seems amiss not to include her.
